I installed a $20 or $30 thermometer in the lid of my kettle grill a few years back. I’ll soon be upgrading, so I’m looking to replace that thermometer with a little more…ahem…budget friendly before I sell it or give it away. These seemed like an ideal candidate! They aren’t too small and aren’t too big. The probe is a little long-ish, so keep that in mind when / where you install it. The face of one of the thermometers had an odd spot in it, where it looked like something sharp pressed against the underside of it. You can see it in the side-by-side pic (look near the bottom of the thermometer on the left).Anyway…I stuck the probes into some boiling water alongside a digital thermometer that I know to be accurate, and it looked really close. I can’t yet speak to how these work at very high temps, or if they’re prone to get moisture inside of them. Time will tell!Oh…also note that there’s a flat notch on the underside, where the body will meet the grill. I’m guessing that helps hold it in place and aligned vertically, and to keep it from spinning easily? Or maybe Char Broil grills have a notched opening into which this fits. Just thought that was worth mentioning.
