Added this unit to our pool to keep the bottom clean. Works well. It follows a random path (sort of like an automatic vacuum cleaner), so it creates a checkerboard like pattern cross-crossing its paths. Eventually it covers most of the pool, but you still will need to manually vacuum some areas if you really want your pool clean. The unit we bought came with 4 wheels which allow it to climb slightly up the walls of the pool – it hikes up on the rear wheels, but that is as far up as it goes. The hose is composed of 10 approximately 3′ lengths (about 38″ each), so you have a little over a 30 foot range (you lose a little since each length has to be inserted into the previous length). Be sure to measure from where you will connect the hose (the vacuum pump connection) to the farthest corner of the pool to insure it will be long enough. I am not sure if you can buy extra hose. Most likely you will have extra hose and can simply not use one or more of the hose sections. We had 3 sections extra. When installing this vacuum be sure your pump is off and that you fill the hose with water and submerge the unit before turning the pump back on, otherwise you can get air in your pump which might damage it.If you get this vacuum I’d suggest you also buy a vacuum brush to vacuum the spaces it misses – these fit the same hose and use a pole you probably already have.
